Frequently Asked Questions
Is the judgment of ACJC in discipline cases final?
ACJC’s finding of responsible or not responsible is final upon expiration of
the appeal period. ACJC’s recommendation for sanctions is almost always accepted
in full by the Dean of Students Judicial Officer, but may be modified if deemed
necessary. In some instances council recommended sanctions are not
feasible and similar sanctions are replaced by the Dean o Students. If the
Dean of Students disagrees with a decision of the Council he/she discuss the
concerns with the Council Leadership.
Can I choose ACJC for Academic Honesty or Sexual Assault and Discrimination
cases?
No. Both of these types of cases have special hearing panels. One member of
ACJC sits on the four-member Academic Honesty panel, and upon request by both
parties, one member of ACJC may sit on the Sexual Assault and Discrimination
panel. Responsible Plea Panels are also not available for these types of cases.
How can I become a part of ACJC?
ACJC selects new members to fill the positions vacated by graduating seniors
in the spring of each year. Any student may apply. Watch for notices on this
site.
