We, the students of this organization, desiring to promote social and cultural awareness and foster diversification within the university for the explicit purpose of improving community relations. The intentions of the Union are as followed:

• To provide a vehicle and forum for the articulation and expression of views and interests of the Black students at the University.
• To establish and maintain active relations amongst and between the University's Black Students and its faculty and staff.
• To operate open communications between the University's Black Community and that of the city of Rochester.
• To foster the recognition of the educational and cultural needs of Black students at the University.

These goals are achieved through dedicated students and staff that are committed to organizing educational and cultural events that provide for a more diverse campus along with monitoring issues that are pertinent to the Black Community of the University. BSU is not an organization reserved solely for Students of Color, BSU is open to everyone and contains members of diverse background and cultures that unite as one, to facilitate where people can learn and socialize in a safe and respectable manner . The Executive Board for the 06-07 academic year are preparing to kick-off next semester and would love to see you there!
