The meaning of Name of LAS (Leap August Society):

1. This Chinese Culture-oriented society was born in the month of August in Chinese lunar Calendar. The actual month was October of 1995.

2. The entire name of LAS in pinyin of Chinese is Run Ba Yue Xue She. I know you guys always mention and talk about the club in LAS (English), but if you can speak out LAS in Run Ba Yue, it should sound very Chinese to reflect how Chinese Culture-oriented LAS is.

3. The Leap August or Run Ba Yue in Chinese calendar itself is a very mysterious and controversial month. A lot of important Chinese historical event happened in it.

• In 1976, a leap year (or Run Nian in Chinese Pinyin), is a turning point year in Chinese modern history. (i.e., The 3 biggest and most influential Chinese leaders died in that year, including Chairman Mao, and Prime Minister Zhou, Enlai), After this year, China had experienced tremendous change as witnessed by everyone the World!
• The month of August in Chinese Calendar, Chairman Mao died, ever since then, China changed!

4. The name of Run Ba Yue (Leap August) has very strong root in Chinese history and culture.
