In the first tournament of the 2007 calendar year, Rochester sent six teams to the University of North Texas, for the first half of the annual "Texas Swing." Rochester fielded three teams for the open division and three for the JV division; impressively, the UR teams in JV featured five novice-eligible debaters competing against opposition that was often more experienced. In the open division, it was a successful tournament for Brittany Carter and Buddy Khan, finishing 4-3 in the preliminary rounds and reaching the double octo-final round before dropping to Baylor.
