Weber State Tournament

January 20-21, 2007

After taking a weekend to refresh from the draining Texas Swing, two UR teams headed to Ogden, Utah for the Val Browning Round Robin at Weber State University. This event featured sixteen teams from several different regions of the country. The teams were divided into two pods of eight teams each. Each team competed in seven preliminary rounds, facing each other team in its pod. At the end of the prelims, the top four teams from each pod advanced to the elimination rounds. The Rochester team of Birttany Carter and Buddy Khan finished 4-3 in prelims before dropping to Wyoming in the quarterfinals, while the team of David Merkle and Ben Wittwer went 3-4. Buddy Khan also took home the fourth place speaker award, ranking among a number of recognizable names on the national circuit of collegiate debate.
