"Come live in community, not just a dorm."

The Interclass Living Center is a special interest floor that has been in existence for nineteen years. We are located on the first floor of Gilbert Hall. The floor consists of freshmen and upperclassmen in a one-to-one ratio. Our primary goal is to help freshmen with their transition to college life via intereraction with upperclassmen. This is accomplished through events coordinated by the Inter-Class Living Center and other campus activities. This past year we worked toward this goal by: participating in intramural sports, providing tutoring sessions for several freshmen introductory courses, sponsoring workshops dealing with stress reduction, hall dinner with professors, and introductions to off-campus activities such as Eastman Theater and House. In addition to our campus activities we have reached out into the Rochester Community by: Trick-or-treating with underprivileged children, cooking dinner at the Ronald McDonald House, and organizing clothing drives. Aside from our formal activities, the Interclass Living Center offers a friendly and supportive atmosphere that is a direct result of our ‘open door’ policy. The upperclassmen are receptive to the needs and questions of freshmen. Freshmen and upperclassmen living together on a special interest has promoted a special spirit and enthusiasm.
