Introduction
The introduction to the presentation is unique to each individual
presenter. There are many points which must be expressed, such
as the confidentiality of the discussion, but each presenter may
decide which is the best way to introduce the program. Some statistics
are introduced to spark interest and to prepare people for the
following discussion. The main purpose of this portion of the presentation
is to tell the group who we are and why we are there.
Ice Breaker
After the introduction, the program proceeds to an ice breaker
called concentric circles. This allows the group to find out what
they will be discussing and attempts to encourage them to participate
actively in the discussion. The leader of this ice breaker walks
around and listens to select responses in order to get a feel for
the crowd.
Video: Playing the Game and Focused
Discussion
This portion of the presentation consists of a short 15-minute
video which portrays a stereotypical situation involving sexual
assault. There are many different views presented in the video
and they often insight a discussion about numerous issues and myths
surrounding sexual assault.
Wrap-Up and Evaluation
At the conclusion of the discussion we wrap up the presentation
by attempting to give some advice to the group as well as receive
feedback from them. We also have some brochures and pamphlets that
we hand out at this point.
