Assalamu Alaikum means peace be upon you. On behalf of the Muslim Students Association of the Universtiy of Rochester, we would like to welcome you to our community. Our mission is to serve Muslims and those interested in Islam pertaining to religion, school, and social activities.
The MSA serves Muslim students by providing access to local religious resources, bringing the Muslim community together, and helping Muslims increase their understanding of Islam.
A key function of the MSA is to promote Islamic awareness. In these times especially, it is necessary for people to understand some of the myths and facts about Islam. The MSA has an annual Fast-a-thon and Ramadan Dinner at the end of Ramadan, where people participate in the Muslim practice of fasting to raise money for a food shelter. We also hold Islamic Awareness Week in
spring in order to teach people more about Islam. We hope that, through the MSA, we can help Muslims and people of other faiths increase their knowledge of Islam.
