Dive headfirst into Rochester’s shadowy underbelly. Step, jump, crawl, and spelunk your way through one of New York State’s most interesting urban environments. Photograph, admire, or simply stare at a wide variety of architecture, from the quite old to the surprisingly new. Contemplate the way humans build, decorate, use, reuse, abuse, and re-abuse the buildings they prop up, and meet the humans that do it.

The University of Rochester Urban Exploring Club typically goes on four or five trips each semester. In addition, we periodically invite guest speakers from the city to talk about the history and future of the sites we explore. In March of 2008 we held an enormously successful event called ArtAwake, which was attended by more than 800 students and 600 members of the community. During Orientation Week this Fall, we organized a the second annual city-wide scavenger hunt for incoming Freshmen called Wild Goose.
